About Mantech Geometrics

Following completion of technical apprenticeships and subsequent engineering roles, Ian Vaughan and Paul Nash began their careers in Metrology in the 1980’s, with Hahn & Kolb GB Ltd. This later became HK Technologies Ltd, which in those days was the UK sales and service representative for the Industrial Measurement Division of Carl Zeiss, Germany. With Paul as Director responsible for the Measurement and Testing Division and Ian as Product Manager, they developed their role in Precision Coordinate Metrology.

This gave a firm foundation in supporting the UK manufacturing community with high quality capital products and services.

Ian and Paul formed a bond during a road trip in Germany in 1988 visiting important principals of the Measurement and Testing Division, by listening to the Blues (on the in-car cassette system, a strange concept to anyone under 30!) as interpreted by the late great Stevie Ray Vaughan. Subsequently Ian has pursued a morbid interest in Country music and Paul has remained an annoying jazz head. However, despite this diversification in musical genres Ian and Paul have maintained a close working relationship.

Ian stayed with HK and then Carl Zeiss UK until 2005. Paul stayed with HK and latterly Carl Zeiss UK until 2001 when, together with another former colleague from HK Technologies, Roger Gillon, he jointly formed Mantech Solutions Ltd. A business founded with the shared principle of providing highest quality dimensional measurement products and 1st class support.

In 2006 Paul joined the National Physical Laboratories business development team with responsibility for developing the market for training in Dimensional measurement. During this period Paul and Ian renewed their cooperation through Hexagon Metrology Ltd, whom Ian was representing as their after market sales manager with responsibility for delivering the NPL training framework.

Prior to this Ian had gained experience in the NDT testing field with Dr. Foerster in the UK and had worked within the medical device industry. In 2007 Paul founded Mantech Sales Ltd to be the UK sales representative for Werth Messtechnik GmbH, and following substantial success this partnership is going from strength to strength. Ian and Paul identified an opportunity in the UK CMM after market in 2009 and, with the support of Hexagon Metrology Ltd founded Mantech Geometrics Ltd.
